After the disappointing season 34 season 35 looks like a modest success. With 8 results including 2 victories the Leeus brought home exactly twice the results of the past season. Astonishingly, it was the old silverback Roberts who conquered those two outstanding victories; to everybody's surprise, at least over here at Sasol Leeus. Thus, he greatly contributed to keep us locked comfortably somewhere in Div. D (4th); not great, but still better than the rollercoaster ride of the season past. For now, pragmatism rather than activism will be the banner under which we will ride to take on season 36.
"The Viking", Lukas Brøkker, who previously raced for Team Unibet and Quick step minded -two legendary giants of OCM racing- and as a young man collected top division victories and results, will finally retire. Over the past couple of seasons he always was of great help to the team, both with his sensational experience and kind advice to his younger teammates. Though he retires from active racing, he will not entirely leave Sasol Leeus. If everything goes as planed, he will return to the team in a different role and position after some well deserved time off. His last race as a professional will be the scenic Selfoss Hills race in Iceland. For now, all there is to say is: Farewell, till we meet again!
With "the Viking" gone, it is our pleasure to announce the signing of South African talent Helman Nyawose, who will join the Leeus around day 30 from fellow South African team Abs stars! After Kgobe maxed way to early, Nyawose will be our next shot at training a promising time triallist. We're all looking forwards to welcoming the young chap!
What more is there to say? Yes, we finally agreed on building a partnership with the time trial center in Entrecasteaux, France. The remote but entirely charming small town in Provence will probably also become a center for off-season prep work and a base from which to embark on races on the old continent.
So much for now, keep the good vibes flowing!
Cheerio!
